INTRODUCTION
Ultrasonic testing (UT) is a family of non-destructive testing techniques based on the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the object or material tested. Ultrasonic testing is often performed on steel and other metals and alloys, though it can also be used on concrete, wood and composites, albeit with less resolution. It is used in many industries including steel and aluminium construction, metallurgy, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive and other transportation sectors. A common example is ultrasonic thickness measurement, which tests the thickness of the test object, for example, to monitor pipework corrosion. After completion of this the training which the trainee expected able to perform ultrasonic testing.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this course are :
- Understand what is advantage and limitation of Ultrasonic Testing
- Understand type and method/technique of Ultrasonic Testing
- Understand type of indication appeared in Ultrasonic Testing
- Capable to interpret indications
- Capable to determine indication result.
- Capable to control of Ultrasonic Testing System
- Understand to interpret cleaning process
- Assessment based on written examination
- The written examination will be in English or Indonesian language. Delegates must have passive English skills (read and understand English sentences). Delegates whose writing is not legible (readable) will fail the test.
- Delegates who fail the examination shall be allowed one re-sit not longer than six months. Delegates who fail the re-sit must retake the entire course.
- To pass the written and practical examination the delegate must obtain at least 70 mark per examination and average examination must obtain at least 80 marks
- Graduates of Diploma (D3, D4, S1) in engineering or MIPA.
- Final semester students from point a.
- Graduates of High School (SMU-IPA, SMK Engineering).
